Made from Indian silk, the Staircase Rug harnesses the technique of trompe-l'oeil (meaning trick of the eye) using varying pile heights in order to evoke imagery of a disappearing stairway to an unknown place. The use of all natural fibers adds emphasis to the mysterious and ethereal imagery depicted on this wall hanging. Drawn from the designer's appreciation of M.C. Escher's work, this piece is no mere rug but indeed a work of art of its own - worthy of wall space to display its celestial narrative.
